Dr Arun Muthusamy

Dr Arun Muthysamy is dual-trained Internal Medicine/ General Physician and Medical Oncologist. He completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2012. He obtained his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2020. Dr Arun has trained across multiple metropolitan hospitals in Melbourne. He has a special interest in perioperative medicine (optimisation of long-standing medical conditions prior to surgery) and the management of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart failure, emphysema/COPD, obesity and other conditions.

Outside of his clinical work, Dr Arun is actively involved in medical student teaching. He is currently appointed as a Clinical Skills Coach for medical students at the University of Melbourne. He is also involved in supervising junior doctors as they progress through speciality training.

Furthermore, Dr Arun has a passion for research. He has published papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at various conferences. He is currently the Principal Investigator at Western Health for the Victorian Perioperative Collaborative Study, looking at perioperative medicine care delivery at major Victorian hospitals.

In his spare time, Arun likes to play cricket, travel (approximately 20 countries to date) and barracks for Hawthorn in the AFL.
